Our series of frequently asked questions answers the most common questions we get asked about building a website - what is a website template?
A website template, or sometimes referred to as a theme in relation to WordPress, is a complete pre-designed website. This preset design contains page designs for multiple pages and can be purchased (or sometimes obtained for free) and then customised (to a varying extent) to include your business logo, colour scheme and content.
The template is the look and feel of your website which can then be integrated with a Content Management System (CMS) to allow you to manage your content.
Whilst a quick and cost-effective way to get a website up and running its not without risks - your website may look like someone else's, the template may not be well made, functionality may be limited, security can be an issue.
We generally don't use templates as most of our work is bespoke, however, where budget is an issue, it is something we will consider implementing.
