We share some of the key things do to maintain our social media channels & those of our clients. It’s important to set up and maintain your social media marketing presence in the right way. Then, when your business does grow, you have a great social media foundation to build on.
Here at Carbon Pixel, we use Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn, and here are a few tips we’ve learned along the way:
- Plan - Start by creating a plan or strategy and stick to it! There are plenty of free resources out there and if you need a template to follow. Make sure you are regularly updating the strategy to adapt to new trends and platform updates.
- Consistency - Be consistent with your message across all the channels you use. When it comes to Instagram, interested people will view your grid, so ensure your grid looks consistent and on-brand; if you want to share posts that aren't, use stories. It is important to maintain a consistent brand voice and visual identity.
- Use your posts well - Use your posts to advertise your business, product, or service but also provide information, support, and solve problems for others. Utilise interactive content like polls, quizzes, and live videos to reach a wider audience.
- Join groups - Look for groups on Facebook and Linkedin, and join and share your content with them.
- Create engaging content - Make sure your content is concise, and engaging and links back to your website. Use visual imagery - it’s proven that posts with images or videos have far more engagement than those without. Short-form video has become increasingly popular, so make sure you are creating TikTok’s and Reels.
- Use great-looking imagery - The quality of your images as well as what is in them is judged. High-quality imagery is really important to give your business a professional appearance; there are multiple free image sites you can use for example Pexels or Pixabay. If creating your own images, pay attention to the composition as well as the quality, and make sure nothing unsightly is on show. Canva is a great platform for creating custom graphics.
- Use the right tools - Use a social media management tool - this makes the managing of your content across multiple channels so much easier. We use a variety of tools most of which are easy to set up and simple to use with many having free versions, for example, Metricool or Sendible. There are other options, such as Buffer and Later. These tools come with analytic features to measure performance but you can also use Google Search Console, GA4, or Meta Business Suite.
- Use Facebook for Business - Make sure your Facebook page is a Facebook Business Page, not a Personal Profile page. If you are creating ads, try to use Facebook Ads Manager rather than the Ads Centre as you get much better tools and information to work with.
- Use Facebook Calls to Action - Make sure you add a call to action that Facebook makes available. This could be a Learn More button with a link to your website or Call now with a tap to make a phone call. If you are an e-commerce business you can use the shopping features on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
- Review analytics - Review the analytics of your posts - note the ones with the most activity and do follow-ups or series on the same topic. Use A/B testing to refine social media strategies.
- Leverage influencer marketing - There are many benefits to influencer marketing, including increased brand awareness, access to a wider audience, and enhanced credibility and trust with your brand/business. Consider working with micro-influencers (10,000 – 99,999 followers) as they offer more authentic connections, making them more effective for promotions.
- Focus on authenticity - Many consumers now prefer authentic and transparent communication, which resonates more with them today.
- Utilise user-generated content - 86% of consumers are more likely to trust a brand that shares UGC. User-generated content is any content - text, videos, images, reviews, etc created by people rather than brands. Creating UGC is a smart strategy for your business and cost-effectively builds brand loyalty and authenticity.
- Adapt to algorithm changes - Make sure to stay updated with algorithm changes on platforms like Instagram and Facebook to ensure content reaches the intended audience.
- Privacy and data protection - It is very important to adhere to privacy regulations and protect user data, especially with increasing scrutiny on social media platforms.
